Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the UW HR Manager, function as a Human Resources Assistant Advanced for the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) within the Dean's Office. This position shares responsibility for Faculty, Academic Staff, University Staff, Student Assistants, Employees in Training, and Student Hourly employees and has specific responsibilities related to a subset of departments and programs within the School. This position is responsible for ensuring that their work is consistent with SMPH, University, State and Federal policies, codes, statutes, and bargaining unit agreements. The incumbent will support FMLA and leave of absence administration for SMPH staff. The incumbent will support and direct department personnel in FMLA and WFMLA issues, discipline, retention, termination, training, and diversity goals. The incumbent will have independent decision making related to multiple applications of human resources policies, procedures and guidelines for each type of employee group.

The incumbent is expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisor, coworkers, and all customers. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion. Use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit. Present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as required. Effectively share knowledge and skills obtained through professional development.

Requirements:

-One year of experience working in Human Resources required.
-Prior experience in Employee Relations or FMLA administration preferred.
-Customer service skills or experience preferred.

Schedule Comment:

Our standard hours are 7:45 am to 4:30 pm. The exact schedule can be flexible and will be determined at the time of hire.
