Job Summary:
Starting pay is based on experience, with a minimum starting rate of $18.03 per hour.

Under the general direction of the Director and Associate Director of the Center for Jewish Studies, the Financial Specialist is responsible for the administration and management of very detailed and complex financial operations, including research funds, general 101 funds, program revenue funds (136), and several 233 and 161 funds for a Center with annual expenditures of approximately $800,000. This responsibility includes the preparation, administration, and day-to-day operation required to administer UW Foundation endowment funds totaling approximately $8 million. Financial management activities include reporting, data gathering and analysis, and procedural development duties.

The role of the Financial Specialist requires initiative, independent judgment, and excellent decision making skills. The position serves as the first point of contact for Center faculty, students, staff, the Dean's office, and outside vendors for advice, direction, training, and problem resolution related to transactions and processes. The position requires extensive communication and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with UW faculty/staff, administrative officials, and the general public. The position requires extensive and detailed knowledge of federal, state, and university rules, regulations, limits, and best practices. The ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in developing, applying and interpreting UW financial policies and procedures, is imperative.
