Job Summary:

This position is located in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and works under the general supervision of the Director of Admissions and Recruitment. The incumbent will join a team that actively participates in supporting the directives, goals and vision of senior leadership and must be able to excel in a high volume, fast-paced office.

The Financial Specialist-Senior is responsible for the day-to-day administration of travel expense reimbursements; providing bookkeeping and auditing services; and training/advising staff in the areas of purchasing, travel processing, and conference planning. This position requires the interpretation of rules, regulation, policies and procedures for university and academic staff, prepares requisitions, blanket orders, direct charges, purchase orders, and processes travel records (audit e-reimbursements, trip estimates, fleet car charges, reservations, etc.). The incumbent also assists with the inventory of office supplies, capital equipment, and publications. A working knowledge and comprehension of the university's financial system, State and Federal purchasing, travel and general expenditure policies, procedures and regulations is required.

The incumbent will collaborate with the Human Resource and Budget Manager who has administrative oversite of budget and fiscal matters for the unit.

Initiative, judgment, and independent decision making is required to achieve departmental goals. This position plays a key role in the training of staff. The ability to communicate policies and procedures to a diverse audience within a complex university setting is essential. The incumbent must work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, staff, campus personnel, and vendors. Ability to work with individuals of diverse racial, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds is required.
