Position Summary:
This position is located in the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) and works under general supervision. WCER is the largest educational research center in the United States and the largest externally supported research center on the UW-Madison campus. It houses approximately 100 separate projects with annual budgets ranging from $5,000 to $50 million. The total WCER annual budget of approximately $80 million is funded from a wide variety of federal and non-federal sources. The total financial activity surpasses $30 million per year.

This Financial Specilist position will process WCER's travel and conference activities, process and track vendor invoices, and perform other miscellaneous financial acitivities. The various tasks require familiarity with approximately 100 research projects supported by over 400 faculty, staff, and students. This position also involves the application of nearly 100 funds and accounts - both internal and external - including the following types of funds: 101, 133, 135, 136, 233, 144, 150, and 161.

The incumbent will work closely with WCER Business Office managers, WCER project managers and staff, the School of Education Dean's Office staff, and central campus Business Services staff. The Financial Specialist must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all parties. The ability to communicate policies and procedures to a varied group of individuals within a complex, evolving research center and university setting is essential.
