Degree and area of specialization:

Master's degree in business, business administration, health services administration, public administration, public health or related field is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Ten plus years progressively responsible professional experience with a record of significant
accomplishments preferably in an academic medical center is strongly recommended. Demonstrated experience overseeing administrative and operational processes and resources for clinical faculty as well as an in-depth understanding of academic medicine's multiple missions of education, research, clinical, and community service is highly preferred. Well-qualified candidates will have worked in a management role for a minimum of 7 years in a healthcare organization with progressively responsible experience leading to at least 5 years experience in operational and administrative management. Experience managing the revenue cycle in an academic medical environment where several programmatic and budgetary processes co-exist and interact along with experience, in-depth knowledge and proficiency in various budgeting and financial software tools is strongly preferred.

Demonstrated skill and experience in leading and managing a professional management staff with diverse responsibilities. This includes skill and experience in leading and participating in committees, task forces, executive-level meetings, etc. Superior oral, written, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with faculty, residents, students, clinical and non-clinical staff, alumni, and external stakeholders is a must.

Position Summary:

The Department Administrator will provide overall leadership for the Department of Emergency Medicine with regards to administration, finance and budget development, strategic planning and human resources management.

Additional Information:

1. Ability to set a strong, pro-active, and positive tone for the Department.
2. Strong financial and people management skills necessary.
3. Strategic planning experience with ability to position the Department at a high level at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, UW Health and nationally.
