DIVERSITY POLICY AND PLANNING ANALYST (EEOC)


Position Summary:
The Office for Affirmative Action Planning and Programming (AAPP), a unit within the Division of Diversity, Equity, & Educational Achievement (DDEEA), promotes, integrates and transfers equity and diversity principles to nurture human resources and advance the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Diversity Policy and Planning Analyst (EEOC) within AAPP is responsible for the data collection and analysis, report preparation, and communication of results to ensure compliance with federal and state AA/EEO laws and regulations and related UW-System Board of Regents policies. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for developing metrics and providing analytical support for diversity and inclusion initiatives such as those contained in the university's Diversity Framework (see https://diversity.wisc.edu/framework/our-process/).

The work requires the acquisition of a comprehensive knowledge of AA/EEO programs and regulations, and knowledge of the organizations, groups and individuals affected by these programs. It requires ongoing monitoring and enforcement of program standards and the development of working relationships with a wide variety of campus offices; committees; schools, colleges and divisions; and federal and local agencies.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Masters degree; or bachelors degree with at least two years equivalent experience; or at least 6 years equivalent experience in lieu of a masters or bachelors degree. The experience and/or degree attainment should be in a field or discipline that depends on the analysis of data from a range of quantitative information sources and an understanding of basic statistical concepts.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
2 Years of Experience in data collection and analysis.

Must possess a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Experience extracting and manipulating information from large data sets. This is a "critical thinking" job that requires the individual to draw on technical skills using large data sets to answer questions about the university. Thus, skill and experience with MS-Excel, SQL, TOAD Data Point, Interactive Reporting Studio, or related analytic tools is required.

Substantial experience synthesizing data, identifying key trends, and explaining their meaning to a non-technical audience. Experience with preparing accurate and compelling graphic presentations of data.

Knowledge of and experience with general statistical concepts and techniques.

Experience identifying and addressing data quality issues.

Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within established and ad hoc teams.

Experience with UW-Madison's data systems is preferred, including InfoAccess data warehouse, HRS, or other enterprise processes or systems. Familiarity with affirmative action reporting software such as Complete AAP is also a plus.

Knowledge of higher education issues in general and issues faced by research institutions in particular.

Preferred Skills include:
Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity (AA/EEO) compliance.

Experience creating an AA/EEO report for a large and complex organization.

Additional Information:
The Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement is not able to sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the require I-9 form upon hire.
