A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience working in facility management including a breadth of experience in space planning, space justification and documentation of needs, and evaluation and assessment of effective space utilization).

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Space Management, this position is responsible for managing space analysis, allocation and planning processes within the Space Planning and Analysis section of the Space Management Office at UW-Madison. Responsibilities include conducting and coordinating interpretive analyses of departmental, college or campus-wide space issues, developing and recommending alternative solutions in an academic environment; researching and evaluating facility requirements at UW-Madison and in a national context; developing or refining space policies and standards, as appropriate; working effectively with academic and administrative committees; serving as the campus liaison in ensuring timely and safe transitioning of major construction or remodeling projects through occupancy; and planning backfill of vacated space. This position must be familiar with UW-Madison and higher education space standards. The position requires excellent communication skills and requires the ability to work independently while directly interacting with senior campus administrators including deans, directors, department chairs, faculty, and researchers regarding space management in over 250 campus buildings.

The Space Management Office, within the Division of Facilities Planning and Management, provides the analytical infrastructure for innovative solutions and informed decisions about university space utilization and the higher education learning environment.

*Ability to organize, evaluate and present information effectively.

*Understanding of the increasing complexity of academic/research facilities and learning environment needs in institutions of higher education setting.

*General knowledge of the UW-Madison Campus.
