Minimum $48,072 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and area of specialization:
MD or PhD in computer science, industrial engineering, biomedical informatics, biomedical engineering, or related field is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Five years experience in computer science, industrial engineering with an emphasis on IT, biomedical informatics, management science, or a related field is required. Proven IT technical skills, including database management and oversight, are required. Training and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ISO 9000, or change management techniques for process improvement is strongly preferred. Supervisory and leadership experience is preferred. Experience and an in-depth knowledge of a variety of data management, programming, network security, data handling, and other related applications, and tools such as dcm4che, Mirth and various PACS systems is preferred. Experience in healthcare, electronic health records, HL7, DICOM standards, and HIPAA compliance is preferred. Software development project oversight, software development team management, and expertise and experience with software intellectual property protection concepts is preferred. Experience in commercializing information technology solutions is preferred.

Candidates should have a track record of innovation and results in the development and deployment of informatics resources in a clinical translational research setting.

Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective partnerships and successful collaborations with faculty and external partners in a large, complex, decentralized environment.

Candidates for associate or full professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion.

A criminal and/or caregiver background check will be conducted.

License or Certificate:
Six Sigma or Project Management Certification Preferred

Position Summary:
The Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison is seeking a director of informatics to serve the informatics needs of the department, but also to establish the Department of Radiology as a premier and trusted source of informatics tools and resources, especially for use with sensitive and protected data. Clinical duties are centered in clinical practice informatics.
