Degree and area of specialization:
DVM degree required. Board certification or board eligible in LA-ACVIM or ABVP-Dairy preferred but not required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Five (5) years veterinary medical experience with a focus on food animal medicine. Familiarity with state and federal animal health regulations. The successful candidate demonstrates knowledge of Wisconsin animal production agribusiness or similar. Experience with bovine AI/reproductive technologies and the export industry is desirable. Demonstrates experience with teaching and conducting continuing education/outreach activities. Involvement with local, state and national veterinary medical organizations desirable. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and a demonstrated ability to work with colleagues, clients, technical staff and laboratory users in a collegial and professional manner. Title will be determined based on qualifications at the time of offer.

License or Certificate:
Current license or ability to obtain individual license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Wisconsin is required.

Position Summary:
This position will work as part of a team of clinical doctoral staff at the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) as well as within the Department of Medical Sciences at the School of Veterinary Medicine. Clinical doctoral staff at WVDL includes pathologists and other client services veterinarians in both the Madison and Barron locations. The successful candidate will work with current faculty in the Large Animal Internal Medicine and Food Animal Production Medicine sections to provide clinical, laboratory and didactic instruction of veterinary medical students, including field visits. The opportunity exists for promotion within the clinical faculty promotion track. If so desired, the successful candidate will be provided with a mentoring committee with a view to promotion in areas of academic clinical practice, extension and outreach, teaching, research and/or leadership. Duties at the WVDL are as described below and will include opportunities for travel, research, outreach/extension, and professional development.
