Position Summary:
The UW Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) is one of the largest and most complex clinical departments in the UW Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. DFMCH currently has over 941 faculty, staff and students as well as 339 adjunct faculty. The DFMCH manages clinics and programs in several statewide operational areas including a pre-doctoral program and a Physician Assistant Program, and operates a statewide primary care residency program consisting of seven residency clinic sites; two in northern Wisconsin located in Eau Claire and Augusta, four in the Madison area located in Belleville, Northeast, Verona and Wingra, and one in Baraboo.

The DFMCH Research program currently consists of 15 faculty and scientists supported by approximately 38 program staff. The UW DFMCH is currently one of the top Family Medicine departments in federal funding. The department has multiple faculty with NIH funded research programs, and administers HRSA and NCCAM research fellowships that serve nine fellows.

This position provides the primary administrative support for the faculty and staff in DFMCH Core Research Services (CRS), Wisconsin Research and Education Network (WREN), and PI research programs. This position provides technical and compliance support and must maintain knowledge of complex policies and regulations guiding the research function. This position also coordinates the DFMCH Small Grants Program.

The primary skills needed include the ability to communicate clearly with multiple faculty and staff, the ability to multi-task projects, ability to use web resources for research support, and work with the Core Research Services and WREN leadership to determine priorities. This position also requires excellent administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as considerable independence in planning, organizing and implementation. It requires the ability to deal with the diverse elements of the academic and research environment, varying needs of individual research investigators and the willingness and ability to manage competing priorities. Duties are performed under limited supervision and the position reports directly to the DFMCH Core Research Services - Research Program Manager III with a matrixed reporting structure to WREN leadership.

The School of Medicine and Public Health has a deep and profound commitment to diversity both as an end in itself but, also as a valuable means for eliminating health disparities. As such, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion.
