Degree and area of specialization:
A Bachelor's degree is not required for this position. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree (preferably in a computer science related field) and/or certifications in web-based computer programming PLUS one additional year of experience (a total of at least 3 years) may be substituted.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
- Minimum two years of experience working with database design, programming and operational management
- Working knowledge of SQL, Access, Excel required
- Experience working in a team environment with cross functional teams required
- Experience with web-based data applications required
- Experience in medical and/or research settings preferred

Position Summary:
UW-CTRI is a nationally recognized leader in the science of tobacco treatment and the use of innovative data collection methods in research. The person hired for this position would lead the transformation of data systems for UW-CTRI's research to web-based platforms. He/she should have a solid understanding of relational database design and programming, and be able to write queries using SQL to bring together data from multiple data sources. The work will also include complex programming using MS Access, and familiarity with working with data in Excel, csv, and other formats, as well the ability to learn and deploy other data capture technologies, such as Interactive Voice Response technology. Must be a self-starter who can work independently with limited supervision as well as work collaboratively as part of cross-functional teams with IT staff, researchers, and other core administrative staff. In summary, this position will require database construction and management for a set of evolving research and intervention programs and will allow considerable creativity for the individual hired to develop those systems.
