Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major studies in Data Management, Space Planning or a related field preferred. An Associate's Degree or every two years of professional work experience as in Data Management or Space Planning related field equals one year of applicable university-level requirement.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Experience and requirements:
- 2-5 years' experience in space planning or related field
- Working knowledge of report writing tools (i.e. - Crystal Reports)
- Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook

Additional experience and skills preferred:
- Experience with data visualization software (i.e. - Tableau, BIRT)
- Knowledge of administrative structure and functional requirements of facilities in higher education
- Knowledge of Higher Education Facilities Inventory Classification Manual (FICM) space codes

Position Summary:
This position provides data collection and analytic services within the Space Management Office at UW-Madison. The Space Management Office, with the Division of Facilities Planning and Management, provides the analytical infrastructure for informed decisions about the University's space utilization and the higher education learning environment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of the Space Management Office.

The Space Management Office collects and maintains room-level data in UW-Madison's space inventory system for approximately 29 million gross square feet across owned and leased facilities. This position ensures the timeliness and accuracy of that data and supports various required and ad hoc reports related to facilities and space utilization.

Responsibilities include collection and analysis of space data; ensuring accuracy and timeliness of facilities data; contributing to the federal Facilities and Administration audit; contributing to the management of UW-Madison's space inventory system; assisting with and supporting standard and ad hoc reports; and contributing to file management, process documentation/improvement, and general office administration.

The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong team relationships.
