Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree plus work experience in construction project scheduling of multi-project work programs, preferably using Microsoft Project.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Five years experience in construction project scheduling of multi-project work programs, preferably using Microsoft Project. Experience in critical path analysis, managing tasks, measuring progress, and generating reports as it pertains to construction project scheduling and management. Experience producing and managing a resource/cost loaded schedule for the life-cycle of a construction project from concept to engineering/design through procurement, construction and closeout. Demonstrated problem-solving ability in the area of scheduling. Must have computer skills in MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience in MS Access and report writing is a plus.

Position Summary:

Ability to work independently and interact professionally with designers, project administrators, construction managers, and customers. Assist team in gathering information and answering questions.
Develop and maintain schedules and integrated master schedules. Develop project management plans as they coordinate with project schedules. Manage all schedule elements inclusive of the critical path, cross-project dependencies, schedule slack, task status, progression, etc. Incorporate schedule information from vendors (IT/AV, FF&E, security, move mgmt.) with general construction schedule and master program schedule. Engage with project managers to provide quality control of the schedule and coordinate the conjunctive or dependent activities.
Monitor project progress, revise forecasts and provide weekly status updates. Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing corrective actions. Perform time impact analysis and track changes that affect the schedule. Develop "what if" scenarios to explore alternate sequencing in order to mitigate or avoid schedule delays. Coordinate meetings and briefings.
Organize and maintain data in clear, accurate formats. Prepare various planning documents/milestones including cost and execution milestones, construction schedules, furniture acquisition, alternative work space design and construction, and change order management.

Additional Information:

Provide professional project scheduling expertise as a team member of the Projects and Remodeling Division of the UW Physical Plant for the construction, modification, and/or renovation of all University facilities including buildings and physical plant infrastructure. The ideal candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills, organizational skills, is detail-oriented, and highly motivated and organized.
