Job Summary:

A Computer Printing Technician is the primary operator of digital print production hardware and software working full-time (40 hours per week) in the Digital Printing Department of UW-Madison, DoIT Digital Publishing & Printing Services (DPPS). The position is located at the ECM Print and Production Center, 30 East Campus Mall, Madison WI 53715. This position with DPPS is responsible for producing printed and finished materials with a commitment to quality and a strong focus on providing dedicated customer service to walk-in clients and our internal customer service team. Some scheduled or unscheduled overtime may be required.

The Digital Printing Department is responsible for providing high volume/low cost publishing and on demand printing solutions. Services are provided to the University, University Systems, state agencies, counties, local municipalities and nonprofits throughout the State of Wisconsin. Publishing and variable data printing technologies applied include high-speed printers such as Xerox Igen and Nuvera Production Systems and a variety of multifunctional color and/or black and white digital copiers, as well as Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager for scanning, job manipulation, enhancement and archiving for production printing. Associated RIP software, FTP servers and Cypress Print workstations and inline and offline bindery equipment are also employed. Digital Printing operates 16-20 hours per day, Monday through Friday and 7-10 hours per day on Saturday and Sunday. This position requires both Saturday and Sunday day shifts.

Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 lbs unassisted, to stand, stoop, twist and bend routinely and repeatedly throughout the work shift. Able to stand for several hours at a time and do repetitive work.

Schedule Comment:

This is a full time position requiring both Saturday and Sunday day shifts (weekend differential applies). With supervisor approval, there is flexibility to determine the remaining days/shifts to be worked.
