COMPENSATION, TITLING, AND RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST


Position Summary:
Under the general supervision and direction of the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance, the Compensation, Titling and Recruitment Specialist serves as a resource for the Division of Continuing Studies. As a member of a team of HR professionals in the division, this position manages and leads activities related to the classification, recruitment, and staffing of all permanent academic and university staff positions, temporary appointments, and student employees. This position must keep current on UW human resources policies, recruitment methods, and compensation issues related to the division.

This position provides high-level support and works closely with program partners to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives, and serves as an integral resource for a highly engaged and inclusive workforce and models a commitment to respect, diversity, and workplace civility. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and all colleagues; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion; present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as required. They must be able to balance working autonomously and as a part of a team to contribute to the effective and efficient day-to-day service, to the greater Division of Continuing Studies goals and mission, and work with a diverse population.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelors degree required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
One or more years of working in human resources. UW-Madison experience preferred. Prefix is dependent on relevant work experience.
* Knowledge of policies and laws related to Human Resources; UW policies, procedures, and systems strongly preferred.
* Experience and knowledge utilizing UW-Madison automated Human Resources applications such as (JEMS, TREMS and HRS/Peoplesoft) preferred.
* Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience with developing and sustaining collaborative work relationships.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Commitment to diversity, inclusion and engagement applied to areas of HR and customer service.
