1-2 years higher education communications experience strongly preferred. This position requires considerable independent initiative and judgment and a high level of administrative problem-solving and analytic ability. Confidentiality of sensitive information must be maintained.

Position Summary:
The ECE Department is one of the largest departments on campus with over 40 faculty, 24 academic staff, 5 university staff, nearly 800 undergraduate students and approximately 300 graduate students. The ideal candidate will have courage to contribute ideas and take initiative toward shared goals; be willing to learn something new every day; and have a desire to bring creativity, curiosity, and innovative thinking to everything s/he contributes.

This position is responsible for strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of effective communication, outreach strategies, and events designed to support the department's strategic priorities, programs services, and mission. This position requires an understanding of the department's stakeholders and customers and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external constituencies and local partners. Specific duties include marketing education/promotion newsletters, the development, writing, and/or editing of news releases, and other print and electronic publications, managing the content of ECE's website, as well as coordinating social media presence, and analyzing marketing opportunites to identify and implement high-impact branding strategies.

The position coordinates complex activities, establishes and maintains communication links with external constituencies, and assists visitors, students, staff, and faculty in support of the mission of the department.
