ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Juris Doctorate (J.D.) is preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
5 years of experience in Employee Relations, investigations, employment law or related fields
Experience handling internal investigations within Workforce Relations/Human Resources
Strong working knowledge of the state, federal, and local laws, regulations, ordinances and policies
Demonstrated strong judgment and sound decision-making
Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal communications
Ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and deliver against deadlines
Relationship management experience in a cross-functional, decentralized higher education environment
Sound critical thinking, problem-solving and negotiating skills, with the ability to apply those skills to a wide range of HR issues
Ability to work with diverse employee groups

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to advise and navigate in the "gray" areas and work in ambiguous and complex organizations
Experience working in higher education
Ability to think outside the box in developing and implementing new approaches to solutions


License or Certificate:
Certifications in investigation training, preferably AWI-CH Certificate Holder is preferred.

Position Summary:
The Investigator is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and fair HR investigations to include: gathering and analyzing facts, applying relevant laws, policies and past practice, and making credibility determinations to reach conclusions
