Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required; healthcare or life sciences area preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
-A minimum of one year of relevant experience required; 2+ years working in a research or clinical trials environment preferred
-Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), e-mail, and internet is requied.
-Ability to read and understand research principles and methodology and apply that knowledge to developing clinical trial budgets required.
-Prior experience developing study budgets preferred.
-Familiarity with Oncore Clinical Trials Management System and clinical procedures highly preferred.

Position Summary:
The Office of Clinical Trials (OCT) is seeking a Budgetary Specialist to join its team of 20+ staff who provide comprehensive support services to faculty conducting clinical research. The successful candidate will manage pre-award activities for a complex portfolio of clinical trials using knowledge of contracts, clinical trial rules and regulations, technical expertise, and analytical skills. S/he will work closely with investigators, research coordinators, industry sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs) and others to develop and negotiate accurate and compliant research budgets. This position will report to the OCT Director and work under the general direction of principal investigators for each assigned research study.
