Job Summary:
This position provides audiovisual (AV), sound and lighting coordination and support ( to include operating, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, constructing, teleconferancing, multi-media delivery) to meetings, conferences, events and live performances. Assist management with comprehensive review of the overall multimedia production within the Wisconsin Union.

The media technician will take the lead, with the assistance of others on the Wisconsin Union Services staff, to install, wire, test and maintain the audio reinforcement, data projection, video production, room control & transmission systems used in support of the Wisconsin Union activities. The technician must understand how to read electronic schematics and mechanical drawings; program, install and integrate various multimedia components, particularly DSP-based audio systems, must understand RF; must be able to use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot, adjust and repair equipment; must be able to fabricate and install connectors on CAT-5, coaxial, audio and must have the ability to work well in a team environment as well as work independently.

The position will also spend time coordinating, setting up, planning, scheduling, troubleshooting, maintenance and inventory of multimedia equipment. This position will be pro-active in monitoring and evaluating AV service to external and internal customers, and recommend changes to management..

This position will work at Memorial Union, Red Gym, Union South, and other locations for events conducted by the Wisconsin Union.

A valid driver's license, which meets UW Risk Management standards, is required.

Schedule Comment:
Tuesday - Saturday
10:00am - 6:00pm, schedule will vary according to programming needs. Some weekend, evening and holiday hours will be required.

Minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required.
Experience with operating, preparing, maintaining and repairing a wide variety of meeting room and performance space AV equipment and technologies.
Experience with troubleshooting and repairing technical problems via phone or in person with presenters, participants, and support staff.
Ability to provide production consultation and support for large events with clients from start to finish.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule is required.
A valid driver's license is required.
