Bachelors degree required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required. Experience working within a University environment is preferred. A strong candidate will demonstrate high-level organizational and critical thinking skills and be able to demonstrate a record of superior task management and follow-through. The ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of discussions and documents when circumstances demand is essential. Must have experience with budget planning, proposal preparation and submission, and financial reporting. Experience in human resource management preferred.

Position Summary:

The Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) Assistant Director is responsible for managing all aspects of administration for PSL. This position reports to the center director and works with PSL supervisors, engineers and project managers in performing the duties of the position. This position plans and coordinates administrative functions to maximize the strategic position of the center. The Assistant Director will be the contact for the Assistant Vice Chancellors and staff in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education for fiscal management, human resources, and research administration. The position will also coordinate closely with UW Business Services, including accounting and purchasing.
