ASSISTANT DATA MANAGER


Position Summary:
This Assistant Data Manager works with the Mercury Analytical Laboratory (HAL) of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) located at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH). The person in this position is responsible for data review and verification for NADP's Mercury Deposition Network (MDN) as well as providing back up data review for NADP's other monitoring networks, including the National Trends Network (NTN), Atmospheric Integrated Research Monitoring Network (AIRMoN), and Ammonia Monitoring Network (AMoN). The Assistant Data Manager will also be responsible for reviewing precipitation data for all NADP networks as well as assisting the NADP Quality Assurance Manager with program wide QA/QC. The Assistant Data Manager will provided assistance to the Data and Site Support Manager in supporting the database infrastructure for the laboratory.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
A Bachelor's degree in the natural, life, applied science, information technology or engineering field is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
A minimum of 2 years-experience working with networks or databases required. Experience working with large sets of data; preferably environmental data.

Additional Information:
- Laboratory training and work experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications or equivalent.
- Technical writing experience, including preparation of oral and written scientific reports; and experience with Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) database syntax is preferred.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems
- This person must be detail-oriented; be able to follow data screening protocols; and meet stringent deliverable schedules.
- A strong technical background with the ability to perform difficult and complex research technical support tasks involving independent judgment.
- Strict adherence to specified procedures is required.
