Assistant/Associate Professor in English

The Department of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is accepting applications for three (3) outstanding teacher-scholars at the rank of Assistant (tenure-track)/Associate Professor with tenure, in any area and time period of global black literary studies, beginning August 20, 2018. We are especially interested in candidates with research and teaching expertise in African American, Afro-Latinx, and black diasporic Anglophone literatures. Successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in black literary studies or any area of the African Diaspora, at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The ideal candidates will have an interdisciplinary profile, and/or be able to mentor students across the field and engage issues of race, ethnicity, disability, gender, and/or sexuality in their scholarship and teaching; Candidates for tenured appointments must show evidence of excellence in teaching and publication in areas that correspond with the candidate’s specialty.  All applications must be submitted electronically at http://jobs.wisc.edu .  Candidates will be requested to submit one PDF which includes a letter of application describing research and teaching strengths, dissertation abstract or research statement, curriculum vitae and names and contact information for three references.  References for finalists will be contacted and instructed to upload letters of reference.  Questions about the position may be directed to Russ Castronovo at:  rcastronovo@wisc.edu .
