Position Summary:
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE) provides oversight for the institution's broad research enterprise and is responsible for an array of multidisciplinary research centers and institutes, research policy and compliance which includes conflict of interest, human subjects, animal welfare and responsible conduct of research and negotiation of industry contracts.

The OVCRGE-IT team creates and maintains information systems that are critical to the administration of the research enterprise and the Graduate School. Users include, but are not limited to:
- Researchers: including faculty, postdocs, staff, and students who need to comply with federal, state, and university policies pertaining to research
- Staff who help faculty members stay on top of their administrative obligations
- University leadership teams that administer competitions for internal grant funding
- Graduate students seeking information about professional development opportunities
- Prospective students who apply for admission to UW-Madison's graduate degree programs
- Administrators who manage graduate fellowship programs and track students' progress toward their degrees

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required; preferably in information systems, computer science, or related field. Consideration will be given to candidates with a degree in another field who have relevant work experience in software development.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
One or more years of database-driven web application development experience is preferred.

A successful candidate must have prior experience with the following:
- Microsoft .NET (C#, ASP.NET, Visual Studio)
- Oracle / SQL
- Successfully implementing .NET with Oracle backend
- Relevant web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON)
- Proficiency with object-oriented programming and support of the entire software development lifecycle.
- Attention to detail, curiosity, excellent organizational skills, and proven ability to clearly and effectively communicate business and technical information.

Additional experience strongly preferred:
- Experience working on IT projects in an academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to create, optimize, and translate business processes to information systems.
