Position Summary:
The Coordinators of Academic Programs and Services (CAPS) team in the School of Human Ecology is dedicated to providing effective administrative coordination for all SoHE academic programs. The Academic Programs Administrator is a new position on the CAPS team that focuses specifically on providing academic department chairs and faculty associate deans with the tools and information necessary to operate successfully as both an individual department and as a strategic unit within the SoHE. A successful candidate will find opportunity to grow this position over time in terms of both job responsibility and scope. This position will:

-- Execute and help to develop procedures and interpret policies to improve the integration of School-wide strategic goals within academic decision-making processes
-- Work directly with faculty chairs and faculty associate deans providing consistent and reliable administrative assistance to enhance all SoHE academic programs
-- Administer and effectively communicate all details regarding academic department and program area governance

The successful candidate will be able to articulate how her/his role in an organization contributes to the greater mission/vision of that organization; must be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively; exercise initiative to complete tasks proactively while seeking input from stakeholders as necessary; must be able to meet deadlines with accuracy; demonstrates discretion and maintains confidentiality in dealing with sensitive data; and must be able to utilize computing resources effectively.

SCHOOL OF HUMAN ECOLOGY: The mission of the School of Human Ecology is to understand the complex relationships and interdependence among individuals, groups and families, and to focus on quality-of-life issues through research, creative innovation, education, and outreach. The School has four academic departments (Civil Society and Community Studies, Consumer Science, Design Studies, and Human Development & Family Studies) with a collective undergraduate enrollment of 1,200 students, and 100 graduate students. Faculty members in the School of Human Ecology often affiliate with centers and programs including the Center for Community and Nonprofit Studies, the Center for Demography and Ecology, the Center for Child and Family Well-Being, the Center for Financial Security, the Institute on Aging, the Institute for Research on Poverty, the LaFollette School of Public Affairs, and the Center for Research on Women and Gender.
