3RD SHIFT CUSTODIAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR


Position Summary:
As part of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M), Physical Plant Custodial Services Department, the Custodial Services Supervisor will support FP&M's mission of 'providing excellence in facilities and services for our university community'. This position reports directly to the Custodial Services Program Manager and is responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 20 multi-lingual custodians. This position ensures team compliance, and adherence, to University of Wisconsin - Madison and or FP&M policies, procedures, and work practices as well as ensuring the delivery and the promotion of best in class custodial services across the campus. Degree and Area of Specialization:
This position does not require a Bachelors Degree.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
The ideal candidate will have prior work experience as a Custodial Supervisor or Custodial Lead; however, this is not required.

The ideal candidate will have relevant work experience utilizing the following skills:
* Basic application and safe handling of cleaning materials,
* Knowledge of building fixture functions and troubleshooting,
* Basic math skills to perform operations that use chemical dilution ration,
* Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, internet,
* Knowledge of safety precautions used in building maintenance and operations.
* Experience handling emergencies and critical operational problems; ability to problem solve and make appropriate decisions; ability to work well under pressure/stress; ability to work in a fast-paced environment,
* Create relationships utilizing exceptional interpersonal skills,
* Experience working independently as well as in a team environment,
* Effective leadership skills to promote teamwork and a demonstrated ability to lead people to generate expected results,
* Experience communicating with customers, proactively seeking feedback to continually improve service delivery; and,
* Relevant work experience demonstrating proactive planning, development and implementation of practices that align with APPA standards and practices and meet the needs of the campus community.

License or Certificate:
Possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's license which meets the University of Wisconsin - Madison's Risk Management Standards.

Additional Information:
This work requires heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, twisting, pulling, and reaching.

Must be willing and able to work in animal laboratory facilities. Direct contact with animals is not required, but special procedures are necessary when working in buildings used for research animals. In the event you are required to work in or around animal facilities, you will be enrolled in the appropriate medical surveillance program.

Some positions require the ability to take and pass tuberculin tests every six months or more frequently.

Some positions require the ability to take and pass a fingerprint test.

Must be willing to work outside of normal working hours. This position may occasionally be asked to work hours in excess of the normal work shift.

This position requires a criminal background check. Due to the nature of this position, applicants will be asked to furnish a signed written record of any conviction or pending criminal charges.

Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) will require Post-Offer Pre-Employment screenings on all selected candidates.
