Program Coordinator - Military Science

 

Eastern seeks an experienced Program Coordinator to coordinate specialized program operations for the Military Science Program. Person hired for the position will perform work requiring knowledge and experience that is specific to Eastern's Army ROTC program

 

This position requires a mastery of multi-tasking, and the ability to coordinate and track data, documents and events for multiple people and purposes. Exemplary candidates will be capable of navigating a dynamic environment utilizing organization and efficiency. Individual hired for the position will be responsible for independently planning, organizing, and prioritizing work of the position to meet internal and external deadlines. Position will be responsible for initiating action to ensure individual and department tasks and goals are met.

The incumbent will coordinate day-to-day program operations, function as the program representative and resource, and will have extensive contact with students, program participants and outside entities. Position will monitor program activities and will resolve problems within delegated scope of authority. Position will provide consultation to program participants and outside entities regarding functions of the program. Position will supervise work-study student employees during the academic year.

Position will provide programmatic support to Military Science (MILS) in the form of providing budgetary and fiscal support, and specialized and general support to the Department Chair, faculty and staff. Position will report to the Department Chair.

Position is responsible for providing a positive first impression for students, staff, Alumni and visitors regarding departmental standards, procedures and services.

Required Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Two years' full-time program or administrative experience performing specialized tasks which are beyond entry level tasks
  • Demonstrated work experience in a fast paced environment focused on customer service, independent task completion and daily interaction with varied organizations and experience with archival functions.
  • Strong computer skills, including the following experience and/or abilities:
    • MS Word - perform complex word processing tasks
    • MS Excel - use spreadsheets to develop and maintain records
    • Use of graphics software packages such as InDesign, and simple computer inquiry programming
    • Database management - maintain databases, including sorting/importing/exporting files and creating reports.
    • Department web page - ability to upload files and manage web page site for program
    • Web applications and data systems, such as EagleNET - ability to navigate various screens to gather information
    • Email - ability to send messages to multiple recipients, make contact lists, send attachments
    • Internet - ability to search and retrieve information from the internet efficiently
    • Assist others with computer problems - email, internet, word processing and other basic hardware and software issues as requested
    • Overall knowledge and intermediate skills with the ability to troubleshoot own workstation
    • Ability to search and retrieve student information and ability to search and retrieve Military Science budget information efficiently from Banner (large, multi-dimensional complex information system)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is sensitive to the diverse needs of the students, faculty, administrators, agencies and external parties.

 


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Two or more years' college coursework strongly preferred; Bachelor's degree (any field) preferred.
  • Military experience
  • Three to five years of full-time program coordinator experience; experience may come from work or volunteer experience, and/or college coursework.
  • Experience in Development (fund raising), including cultivating donors, gifts and making/maintaining alumni connections across multiple disciplines.
