The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Middlebury College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Spanish at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek a Peninsularist who specializes in a comparative approach to multicultural, multilingual, and plurinational Spain, with a focus on at least two regional identities, and whose research and teaching center on twentieth-century and/or contemporary Spain. Candidates should also have the demonstrable ability to academically engage with Latin America and/or the Lusophone world. All applicants are expected to conduct cutting-edge research that enriches course offerings in the department. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching Spanish-language courses at all levels, and be ready to contribute to the college curriculum in English, including the first-year seminar program and winter term. Appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (Ph.D) or Instructor (ABD).
