The Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a tenure-track position in epidemiology at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Located in Richmond, Virginia the state’s capital, approximately 100[RMJ1]  miles south of Washington, D.C., this position offers opportunities for interaction and research collaboration with faculty from three other public health oriented departments, clinicians, and policy makers in both state and federal agencies. VCU boasts one of the country’s most comprehensive health sciences centers, including the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, and Allied Health Professions, as well as the Center for Clinical and Translational Research, the NCI-designated Massey Cancer Center and the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics[RMJ2] .  

 

The Division and the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health are home to nationally and internationally recognized investigators who are at the forefront of the integration of public health and primary care, creating novel synergies for research and education. 

 

Qualifications for Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Epidemiology (Tenure-track): doctoral degree in epidemiology and experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary research setting commensurate with academic appointment level.  The successful applicant will have current (or strong potential for) extramural research support, a record of peer-reviewed publications, and interest in and experience with teaching and mentoring at the graduate level. [JEL3] At the Assistant Professor level, faculty will be required to have an established research agenda and a clear potential for external funding, and potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the division.  At the Associate or Full Professor level, faculty will be required to have a well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to complement and expand existing expertise in the division.[s4]  Individuals with research and teaching interests in all content areas are welcome to apply. All candidates should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. We value teaching experience at the graduate level. Salaries and start-up funds are highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
