This position will serve as a lead technician to provide guidance with building systems with emphasis on HVAC and mechanical systems that are becoming increasingly sophisticated and linked to Smart Building systems. Duties include maintaining all heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, boilers and all associated equipment, to its maximum capability at masters level; operating the energy management control system in an efficient manner; and serving as a lead technician during the absence of the HVAC Supervisor.
This position is designated "essential" for emergency closings.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Extensive knowledge of boilers, heating, ventilating and air conditioning operations including controls. Extensive knowledge of chilled water systems. Extensive knowledge of the operation, repair and maintenance of various types of HVAC equipment and controls. Basic knowledge of smart buildings, Internet of Things ( IOT ), etc. Proficient skill in the use of hand tools, power tools and special instruments in rebuilding and replacing of compressors ranging from 3 to 75 tons. Demonstrated ability to diagnose malfunctions of building and mechanical/electrical systems. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and present a professional business image. Demonstrated ability to repair and perform maintenance on institutional type equipment. Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints. Demonstrated ability to solve problems with heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment, boilers and chilled water piping.
Special licenses, registration or certification
Valid driver's license and insurable driving record. Successful completion of a refrigerant transition and recovery course and tests. Type Universal Certification.

Level and type of experience
Extensive heating, ventilating, air conditioning, boiler equipment repair and maintenance experience. Considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial type HVAC equipment at different sites. Some heating, air conditioning and boiler trade school and/or working experience.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Mechanical license. Considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial type HVAC equipment. Considerable heating, air conditioning and boiler trade school and/or experience. Some supervisory experience.
