GENERAL INFORMATION: John Tyler Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and the fifth largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. RESPONSIBILITIES: Full-time, nine-month teaching position available for January 1, 2018 or August 16, 2018. Primary responsibility of the Welding faculty member is teaching Welding Technology courses including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, OAC, PAC, blueprints, and other courses as needed. Faculty instructional loads are normally scheduled on an average of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. The faculty member will participate in course and program development and assessment, advise students, assist adjunct faculty in the discipline area, and actively serve on division and college committees. Teaching schedules may include day and evening classes and off-campus assignments. There is no guarantee for summer teaching and/or overload courses which are based on student interest and enrollment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 5 years of job experience in the welding field. Applicant should be familiar with Microsoft Office, and a strong working knowledge of Blackboard and PeopleSoft. Applicant should have demonstrated classroom lecture and laboratory experience. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required. Preferred Qualifications: Associate of Science degree and more than 10 years of experience in the welding field strongly preferred. Working knowledge of virtual welding. Previous instructional experience at the College level.
