Interventional Radiologist

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, University of Utah is seeking CAQ certified or eligible fellowship trained (or equivalent) Interventional Radiologists to join its expanding Interventional Radiology (IR) section. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in all aspects of IR operations; however, exceptional applicants out of fellowship will also be considered. Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. Evidence of prior academic work is strongly desired. IR faculty are expected to lead and develop specific clinical services, participate in an IR call pool, initiate or participate in research projects, and actively engage in teaching for residents and fellows. The Department and medical centers offer significant research opportunities. There is an outstanding residency program in the Department and an accredited IR fellowship. The academic appointment will be at a rank commensurate with training and experience. Depending on the candidate's academic experience, a departmental leadership position will also be considered.

The interventional radiology faculty currently consists of 5 faculty members and an outstanding group of physician assistant, nurse practitioner, technologists, and nurses. The section provides clinical services at the University Hospital, VA medical center, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, an NCI -designated premier cancer center. There is also the potential for expanding coverage to an outpatient surgery center. In addition to routine interventional radiology procedures, the section has robust programs in interventional oncology, complex transplant, and hepatobiliary intervention. Outstanding resources include new IR suite (expected completion by 2018) and IR- MRI suite. Areas of growth include women's intervention and venous interventions. It is expected that this individual will contribute to a collegial environment that will promote the growth of the section.
