The Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies at the University of Utah and the Huntsman Cancer Institute seeks to recruit Tenure Track Faculty, rank dependent upon qualifications. The Division currently has over 20 full time Faculty members engaged in several clinical subspecialties who are also engaged in a broad spectrum of clinical, translational and basic research in Hematology. We are undergoing a major expansion in all of our clinical programs, and invite applicants with interests in all Hematologic subspecialties. The position includes opportunities for educational activities with trainees (fellows, residents and medical students), and work on translational research and quality improvement projects. This individual will be expected to devote effort in programmatic development and outreach.

Applicants should have an M.D. or Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated accomplishment in clinical, translational or basic research. All M.D. candidates must be ABIM board certified, Board Eligible or Board Certified in Hematology and must be eligible for a medical licensure in the state of Utah. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong track record in their area of expertise, as evidenced by scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, leading roles in clinical trials and recognition in the national and international Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies community. Successful candidates will be appointed at a faculty rank and salary appropriate for his/her qualifications. Recruitment is ongoing until a suitable candidate is identified or the search is closed.

The University of Utah and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the only NCI -designated Cancer Center in the Intermountain West, provide an excellent research environment. State of the art resources are available on site spanning from world-class transgenic facilities, genome-wide scanning technologies to drug development platforms, pharmacology and toxicology. The scientific environment in the Division and the wider University is vibrant and extremely collaborative. Outpatient clinics are housed in the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. A new transplant/leukemia unit opened in the Fall of 2011, which brought all adult Hematology and Hematologic inpatient and outpatient activity into the same facility. All clinical facilities are in close physical proximity to laboratories in the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

The mission of the Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies is to provide state of the art diagnostics and treatment in an environment of compassionate care to patients with hematologic cancer. We invite applications from candidates with initiative, curiosity and a dedication to a career in academia. We are committed to fostering a stimulating and collegial work place and will provide competitive start-up and compensation packages. As the largest metropolitan area in the Intermountain Region, Salt Lake City offers cultural diversity, a broad range of music and theater, as well as access to high alpine hiking and skiing territory within less than 45 minutes.
