Diabetes, Obesity, Metabolism Researcher - Opportunities at the University of Utah

The College of Health (Division of Nutrition and Department of Exercise and Sport Science) and Department of Internal Medicine (Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism) at the University of Utah aim to expand research in the high priority areas of prevention or treatment of diabetes, obesity and metabolism.
Applicants should have a Ph.D and/or MD degree and a demonstrated record of accomplishment as an independent researcher in clinical, translational or basic science related to diabetes, obesity, and/or metabolism. Candidates with a clinical degree (e.g, Physician, Physical Therapist, Registered Dietitian) must be eligible for licensure in Utah.
Preference will be given to applicants with a strong track record in their area of expertise, as evidenced by first or senior author scientific publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, conference presentations, attainment of federal funding for research, and/or recognition in the national and international diabetes, obesity and metabolism community. Consideration will be given to more junior researchers with a highly promising early career trajectory. The successful candidate will be appointed at a faculty rank, line and salary appropriate to his/her qualifications. Recruitment will be ongoing until a suitable candidate is identified or the search is closed.
Position Available: Assistant/Associate or Full Professor in the College of Health, Department of Exercise and Sport Science or Division of Nutrition. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month appointment starting in the 2015-2016 academic year.

Qualifications: Research and/or clinical doctorate. Candidate should demonstrate an established line of research with external funding. Candidates with a clinical degree must be eligible for licensure in Utah.

Responsibilities: Establishing a research agenda, obtaining external research funding, mentoring graduate and under-graduate students in research, participating in teaching and service opportunities as required of the Department/Division in the College of Health. Clinical duties may be negotiated, if desired.
