The Division of Adult Psychiatry at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist. This position entails participation in clinical care and education in our growing Geriatric Psychiatry Program. It may also involve research, depending upon candidate experience and interest.

Candidates will have a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry with rank based on academic experience.

Qualifications:

Applicants should hold a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah (or eligible) and have expertise in adult inpatient and/or outpatient psychiatry. Obtaining board certification is a requirement for retention.

Completion of a residency in Psychiatry, and current enrollment in good standing or completion of ACGME certified Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship is required.

The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry and be board eligible in Geriatric Psychiatry upon hire.

Responsibilities:

• Clinical care of older adult inpatients and/or outpatients, or a consultation liaison service
• Teaching/supervising medical students and residents in psychiatric clinical rotations
• Scholarly activity/investigation may be organized as you progress
• Call is an expected clinical responsibility for all faculty
• Cross coverage for vacations and meetings
• Administrative service to the Department of Psychiatry, the hospital and the Medical school, including peer review and participation on committees, may be requested

The percentage of effort spent in education, investigation and administrative activities will be negotiated annually. Specific assignments will be coordinated through the Division Chief of Adult Psychiatry.
