Summary:

The Talent & Compensation Manager will assist the director in the planning, development and implementation of new and revised compensation and talent acquisition programs, policies and procedures that are responsive to the university's goals and competitive practices; ensuring through research, comparative analytics, reports and personal interactions that university compensation and talent acquisition programs are consistently administered in compliance with UVU policies as well as state and federal regulations. This position will be responsible for managing the day to day operational activities of the compensation and talent acquisition staff; assist in the development and maintenance of the university's organizational structure, job classification system and salary structures; evaluate and implement processes that manage and measure the effectiveness of the university's talent recruitment strategies; prepare statistical summaries, complex spreadsheets, regression analysis, reports, and presentations in support of decision making processes; participate in market surveys and assist in analyzing results; manage, create and update tools and training to guide managers and supervisors through compensation and talent acquisition decisions and government mandates.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Financial Management or related degree
plus three years of progressively responsible experience in compensation and talent acquisition or an equivalent combination of education and/or demonstrated experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling 7 years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of core compensation terminology and best practices.
  • Knowledge of talent acquisition planning and strategy.
  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of statistical research and analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of market pricing, compensation modeling, and job evaluation.
  • Knowledge of federal and state legislation as well as university policy that affect compensation and classification policies.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and a track record for planning, performing and auditing work.
  • Highly proficient in the use of EXCEL functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal, external and social media presentations that demonstrate business acumen and fosters the UVU human resource brand.
  • Skills in motivating, developing, and managing people.
  • Skills in critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to compensation and talent acquisition opportunities.
  • Demonstrated skills in market evaluation, compensation modeling, and pay structure design.
  • Demonstrated skills in analyzing and creating talent recruitment plans that align with the universitys strategic talent acquisition goals.
  • Strong mathematical/quantitative reasoning skills.
  • Ability to perform independent in-depth analysis on talent acquisition.
  • Highly detailed and driven with emphasis on accuracy, coupled with the ability to see the broader picture.
  • Ability to create dynamic tools and models to interpret and analyze compensation and talent recruitment/acquisition data required to measure success of strategies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple high-priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree, CCP or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification

Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited physical effort required.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
