Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts Production Lab coordinator is responsible for the set-up and take down of all specialized equipment needs within the performance and teaching spaces of the School of the Arts. They will follow layout drawings for placement of tables, chairs, stages, and other peripherals, working closely with the Production Manager to ensure all performance and teaching spaces are ready by required deadlines. They will also assist, and coordinate with, both the Director of Operations, the Lighting Supervisor, and Acoustical Supervisor with regard to load-in and strike of sets. They are responsible for the training of student and part-time set staff within their area.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in a directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge in safety protocols when working with technical and instructional equipment.
  • Knowledge in proper cleaning methods and techniques of equipment.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques pertaining to part-time hires.
  • Working knowledge of sound and lighting equipment helpful.Skills in set-up and storage of technical and instructional equipment.
  • Skills for effective interpersonal communication.
  • Skill in Marley floor (Dance Floor) taping and maintenance.Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to effectively us time management in meeting all stated deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:


Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
