Summary of Duties
The Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications serves as the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of the university and reports to the Vice President of University Relations. Advises and gives support to all university executive leaders on high-profile marketing and public relations strategies, challenges, and opportunities. Oversees the creation, maintenance, and delivery of an institutional strategic marketing plan that provides direction for consistent messaging and delivery for the university through all media outlets and social media mediums and among related contracted service vendors. Assists the VP for University Relations with divisional leadership responsibilities and assigned initiatives; community business, and political outreach; as well as hosting high profile university and community events and dignitaries. Oversees the area's efforts in media and public relations, strategic and integrated marketing, social media, web marketing, advertising, publications, creative services, photography, broadcast and video communications, campus branding and signage, product licensing, and production and operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctoral degree and a minimum of five years of recent experience in a related field within higher education in a strategic leadership role, including management of departments and programs OR a masters degree in a related field and seven years of related experience within higher education in a strategic leadership role, including management of departments and programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred degrees in Marketing, Communications, and/or Business.
Knowledge
Knowledge and experience in higher education marketing.
Knowledge and experience in managing budgets and personnelholding them accountable for performance while maintaining a positive and healthy work environment.
Skills
Proficiency in popular social media platforms and can generate analytic data measuring its impact.
Effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Experience as a media spokesperson.
Abilities
Ability to demonstrate leadership, communication skills, commitment to diversity and consensus building success.
Ability to interpret analytic data to make informed decisions and optimize returns on investment.
