Position Category: Faculty - Tenure Track (FT)

Summary:
The department of Community Health at Utah Valley University is seeking an Assistant Professor. Teaching responsibilities (12-15 credits per semester) could include: Health Services Organization and Policy, Public Health Administration, Bio-statistics, Principles of Community Health, Community Health Ethics, and other classes as needed. Provides services to the department, university and community, produces scholarly work, and upholds professional and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications:
A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Health Care Administration, Health Services Management, Health Informatics, Public Health Policy and Administration or a similar field required. Applicants who are ABD may be considered, with proof that all requirements for their doctoral degree will be completed on or before June 30, 2018.
Candidates should have a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Expertise in biostatistics. Evidence of involvement in health professional organizations and/or associations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of U.S. health care along with policy development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of public health administration and health care laws.
  • Knowledge of public and community health programs and course content.
  • Knowledge of current trends in health care administration education.
  • Knowledge of research design and biostatistical applications.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques, curriculum development, and evaluation and assessment of instruction.
  • Knowledge of student management, motivation and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of current trends in education, especially related to health care administration.
  • Experience using multimedia software and hardware in a classroom environment.
  • Skills in the proficient use of technology, especially related to online software like Canvas.
  • Skills in doing research and scholarly work.
  • Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Skills in instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Skills in managing, motivating, and evaluating students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Evidence of successful teaching.
  • Ability to create and interact with community partnerships.

Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical classroom/office work environment. Requires regular sitting and standing. Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Must be able to communicate effectively. Requires large classroom, small group and interpersonal interactions with students, faculty, and members of the campus. Must be able to perform minimal lifting, bending, standing and walking.
