Staff Clinician & Case Manager

The Staff Clinician & Case Manager assists students and campus stakeholders by providing appropriate interventions, referrals and follow-up services to on and off-campus resources. The Staff Clinician & Case Manager provides short-term, solution-focused individual counseling, group counseling, case management and crisis intervention for the student population. The Staff Clinician & Case Manager also engages in outreach, education, programming and training for students, staff and faculty, depending on needs.

Responsibilities of the Staff Clinician & Case Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist students with psycho-social needs, including referrals to community resources such as mental health care, hospitalizations, and/or other specialty care (e.g. substance abuse treatment, in-patient care for eating disorders, partial hospitalization etc.).
• Increase access to off-campus care by working to reduce transportation, financial and/or insurance barriers, as well as initiating and developing on-going liaison relationships with community health providers, services, hospitals and other resources.
• Follow-up and document to ensure that students are appropriately assessed; successfully referred; and monitored for compliance with treatment recommendations.
• Maintain a database of local referral resources and community service providers that students can access.
• Clinical responsibilities include delivery of the following services: triage screenings, intake assessments, individual counseling, group counseling, treatment planning, triage and crisis intervention, referral assistance, collaboration with concurrent or recent treatment providers, and consultation with students, faculty, staff, and parents regarding students of concern.
• Serve as Counseling Center liaison to campus colleagues, particularly first-responders (i.e., Public Safety, Residential Life staff, etc).
• Provide on-going professional development training on suicide prevention, related risk-factors (e.g. substance abuse) and cultural variables impacting access to appropriate mental health care.
• Participate in, and at times lead, outreach and education activities, trainings and programs on campus for students, faculty and staff on topics relevant to mental health and wellness care of college students.
• Supervise graduate social work, counseling, psychology trainee in accordance with Counseling Center training program/policies and graduate school requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's or doctoral degree in counseling, social work or psychology and a minimum of 3 years post-master's experience providing short-term counseling for young adults required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current Massachusetts license ( LICSW , LMHC or Psychologist) required. LCSW or MA license with terminal license ( LICSW , LMHC ) within 4 months may be considered depending on experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent skills in collaboration and interpersonal relationship development.
• Experience working with public safety, police officers and/or other first-responders in managing mental health emergency and assessment.
• Ability to work well with a diverse range of constituents (e.g., staff, faculty, parents, off-campus providers, etc.).
• Strong clinical skills in short-term models of counseling; ability to quickly assess, diagnose, recommend and/or refer students for continuity of care; crisis intervention experience and knowledge of young-adult risk-factors.
• Experience in clinical supervision of graduate trainees and relevant supervision requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as a team.
• Experience with and ability to relate to and identify with students of diverse backgrounds and identities.
• Commitment to Social Justice principles.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous work experience in a college setting.
• Ability to speak other languages, such as Mandarin or Spanish.
• Knowledge and experience working with providers close to campus strongly preferred.
