Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to design, develop, and deliver training and support for the integration of instructional technologies (including emerging technologies) within teaching and learning. This position also assists faculty in modeling, becoming proficient in, and applying instructional technologies within teaching and learning, as well as assisting in the technology-based redesign of courses. This position serves as an administrator for the college's learning management system as well as presents recommendations related to course design, instructional delivery options, and instructional technology with a focus on emerging technologies.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

40% Support faculty in the use of instructional technology (including emerging technologies) within teaching and learning as well as recommending technology options to enhance instructional methods. Provide technical consultation on the use of technologies such as mobile technologies, videoconferencing applications, multimedia technologies (production, editing, and hosting), web design applications, and distance learning technologies. Conduct training and serve as an administrator for the learning management system (currently D2L Brightspace) as well as assist faculty in the use of equipment and software available in technology-based classrooms. Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies or methods including remaining current in developments within the field through participation in continuing education opportunities. Develop and maintain communication and cooperation with instructional technology departments and other colleges and universities.

25% Develop on-going plans for faculty development in the area of instructional technology (including emerging technologies). Research and present recommendations to the institution regarding how instructional technology can influence course design and instructional delivery options. Also participate in college-wide or TBR system-wide committees/task forces as needed.
25% Assist faculty (1) in the development of strategies related to utilizing instructional technologies in a wide range of college curricula, (2) in selecting appropriate modes of integrating technology into instruction, (3) in selecting appropriate technology delivery systems, and (4) in assessing effectiveness and efficiency of instruction based on course design best practices, instructional technology use, and achievement of student learning outcomes. 10% Performs various custodial tasks
10% Conduct needs assessments in order to prepare support documentation and training materials delivered to end users through blogs, websites, tutorials, videos, user guides, and presentations. Also provides after-hours instructional technology support when needed in order to respond to emergency issues such as a system wide outage.

Required Qualifications:
A. Master's Degree from an accredited institution in educational technology, instructional technology, education or related field required
C. Minimum of three years' experience in providing instructional technology services, teaching or technical training
(Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience)
Scope of Responsibility:
Beyond the creative aspects of course design and web design, the Instructional Technology Specialist is also required to develop new materials for training and information sharing, such as online tutorials and training modules. Since our faculty members have varying needs, this requires offering a wide variety of choices for supporting course development and training. Originality is a huge factor in drawing interest in the training services offered in this department. Faculty members rely on this position for creative solutions to instructional problems.
Skills and specific knowledge needed to perform this job include:
• Knowledge of instructional design and of course management systems.
• Extensive experience with web page development or content management systems like 'WordPress',
• Multimedia project planning including production, editing, and hosting.
• Broad understanding of both Mac and Windows applications including Microsoft Office and other word processing formats, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote and other presentation formats.
Proficiency in HTML and CSS is required. Knowledge of Javascript, SQL, and PHP are useful.
Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location of Position: Hardin Valley Campus
Pay Rate: $52,350 - $65,320.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.
