Description of Position
College of the Sequoias Community College is seeking a full-time, grant-funded, classified position as part of the Strong Workforce Program. This position will be assigned to the District's Career Technical Education (CTE) students and will employ best practices in an effort to increase student success. These practices include but are not limited to the following: regular and frequent contact with all students under their assignment; logging/tracking individual student progress/records; flexible work hours including evenings and weekends, and planning and tracking relevant budgets and expenditures.
At College of the Sequoias, CTE success assumes gainful employment for students. The CTE Student Success Coordinator will meet with students to create an academic engagement plan, set goals, and share resources to help students achieve their objectives within and beyond the classroom environment. The CTE Student Success Coordinator will provide leadership in the CCPT Program through outreach to students and campus partners. The position reports to the CTE Dean with the primary assignment to work full-time with CTE students in the following locations/programs:
Visalia Campus
Hanford Educational Center
Tulare College Center

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to:
Bachelor's Degree and
at least 2 years of professional experience in education or
the equivalent
This position requires strong critical thinking and
communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently while developing strong collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, student services, and academic services units. The individual must be able to exercise excellent professional judgment and discretion, making decisions on a regular basis that impact student welfare and the District. and
Demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Licenses and Other Requirements
Valid driver's license.
An incumbent must be insurable at the "standard rate"
by the employer's insurance carrier at all times while employed in this classification by the College of the Sequoias.

Desirable Qualifications
Skill assessing academic difficulties, developing appropriate remedies and evaluating and assessing effectiveness of student support intervention.
Experience working with under-represented population and the ability to work successfully with students of diverse backgrounds.
Organizational skills with the ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple work priorities.
Outstanding customer service skills.

Representative Duties
In addition to, and related to, services provided by COS counselors:
Identify and track CTE students.
Coordinate an academic success program for students while promoting an environment of academic excellence and fostering student success and retention.
Coordinate between instructors, student services staff, counselors, and administrators to enhance the academic success of students.
Engage with Career Development Coordinators to facilitate student employment and support the Career Development System.
Utilize Labor Market data and business relationships to advise students.
Facilitate appropriate responses to student Early Alerts.
Administer a regular schedule of recurring student meetings to address student needs.
Record attendance and individualized comments for each student after each session. Document progress, goals, to- do list, and any other information requiring follow-up.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of every student interaction including in-person visits, phone, and online consultations.
Through professional development, provide active leadership on current issues and trends related to college students' academic success and retention.
Facilitate academic success presentations and workshops to various campus partners.
Oversee and develop reports to assist in the assessment of the CCPT Program.
Other duties as assigned including night/weekend assignments, group meetings, and off-campus outreach.

Employment Information
Salary is at Range 41
(25.15 hourly / $4,359 monthly) Initial placement on step AA
Minimum 5% increase if promoted.
10-working months probationary period.
Union membership upon employment.

Screening Procedure
Only complete application packages will be evaluated by a qualified screening committee as soon as possible after the closing date. A selected group of candidates will be invited for oral interviews. After initial interviews, finalists may be asked to return for a second interview.
