President, Cedar Valley College

Dallas County Community College District invites applications and nominations for the position of President of Cedar Valley College.

The President is responsible for leading initiatives which contribute to the vibrancy, growth, and economic stability of Dallas County for future generations, with primary emphases in areas of student access and success, identification and implementation of academic and technical programming to support continuing education and workforce development, and community outreach to extend partnerships, expand resources and share capacity in support of current and future students.

 

About Cedar Valley College

Cedar Valley College sits on a large, 353-acre campus in the city of Lancaster.  Opening in 1977, it serves a diverse population in Southern Dallas County, incorporating students from five independent school districts, including Lancaster, Dallas, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and DeSoto.  The college is home to the Sustainable Communities Institute and launched SCI as a virtual institute in Fall 2014.

 

Located in southern Dallas County, just south of I-20, Cedar Valley one of seven colleges in the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD).  More than 6,800 students benefit from its comprehensive curriculum, which includes for credit academic transfer career programs and non-credit continuing education courses such as real estate, computer technology, foreign language and music.

 

Cedar Valley’s award-winning architecture and careful attention to landscaping have earned the college a reputation as one of the most scenic business sites in the Dallas area.  The campus plan takes advantage of the site’s natural beauty, which includes a gazebo and a pedestrian walkway along two sides of a 17-acre lake.  Cedar Valley has a 350-seat performance hall, gymnasium, baseball field, and a GOLD LEED certified Veterinary Technology Building.

 

Cedar Valley College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Associate Degree.

The qualifications include an earned Master’s degree, a minimum of five years of management experience, including three years upper level administrative experience in a community college/higher education environment, a doctorate is preferred. Presidential experience is preferred. The successful applicant will demonstrate experience in teaching and/or student services in an academic environment with strong oral and written communications confirming the ability to effectively research, organize and persuade diverse audiences, internal and external to the college and system.
