Chair, Department of Information and Logistics Technology



Description:

The College of Technology at the University of Houston is seeking to fill the position of Chair, Department of Information and Logistics Technology (ILT). The Department serves 1,500 students in its three undergraduate programs: BS degrees in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Digital Media (DIGM), and Organizational Leadership & Supervision (OLS). The department also serves 60 graduate students in the Masters of Science in Information Systems Security (ISS) program. All programs are accredited by content-relevant external agencies. The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security recognize the security program as a Center of Academic Excellence.

The college is moving to offer a PhD program in the near future. The department currently has over $2 million in research funding from a diverse set of sources including NSF, DOE, NSA, DOL, and TX DOT. The College of Technology is the second largest college on campus with more than 6350 students. Additionally, University of Houston is a Carnegie-designated tier one public research university.

The University of Houston is a Tier-One Research University and the applicant's record should reflect the level of research and academic maturity commensurate with this level of appointment. The hire will be made the rank of Full Professor. The successful candidate is expected to have an extensive funded research record and potential to develop interdisciplinary research partnerships. Furthermore, the chair is expected to have leadership and management skills to enhance excellence in scholarly activities, teaching, and services missions of the department. Particular areas of interest include Big Data and Data Analytics; Information Systems Security; Computing System Infrastructures; Trans Media, STEM Leadership, Programming Languages, and Public Private Partnerships.

Qualifications :
The successful candidate will have a Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Graphic Communications (Digital Media), Organizational Leadership, or a related field. Industrial experience is also highly desirable.  As the hire is at the full Professor rank, the applicant's record should reflect the level of research and academic maturity commensurate with this level of appointment.
