Job Title: Program Manager - School of Medicine Job Number: 2017-194 Department: School of Medicine Job Description:

Salary: Commensurate with experience and education

Job Summary: The Program Manager for the School of Medicine Marketing & Communications is responsible for coordinating School of Medicine (SOM) program administrative operations including research, grant writing, preparation of manuscripts, event planning, managing budgets, handling information requests, curriculum development and outreach.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Supervises and coordinates day to day administrative operations of the MD School Program.

Liaises among external individuals and organizations.

Greets visitors or callers and directs them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.

Coordinates research, IRB, grants, and manuscripts.

Reviews and analyzes budget reports, and prepares and develops budget modifications and recommendations.

Engages key stakeholders whose collaboration or feedback is needed to successfully achieve the goals/anticipated outcomes of the program.

Organizes and coordinates meetings, events, and workshops.

Works with the team in development of curriculum for classes and workshops.

Collaborates with Bob Schieffer College of Communication, TCU College of Fine Arts, UNTHSC Medical Science Program, PACE, JPS & TCU pre-professional program.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 3 plus years' professional experience in higher education or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of higher education procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of department specific computer software.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques.
  • Knowledge of research techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience with social media.
  • Knowledge and experience with media relations and media tools.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Skill in the navigation of Microsoft Windows.
  • Skill (exceptional) in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to review and make recommendations to improve and streamline processes.
  • Ability to think creatively and independently.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as being self-directed.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as well as seeing the whole picture when appropriate.
  • Ability to schedule appointments, meetings, travel, and submit receipts for reimbursement.


Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
