Assistant or Associate Professor

The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy Health Outcomes and Pharmacy Practice Division invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with tenure. Appointment as Associate Professor requires demonstrated sustained extramural grant support, and research, scholarship, and teaching proficiency that are consistent with appointment to that rank at a research-intensive university. Qualified candidates must have an earned PharmD (or other pharmacy practice-related degree), relevant postdoctoral experience and a Ph.D. with a strong research focus in health outcomes, pharmacy services, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, public health or a related health care field. Preference will be given to candidates with a PharmD/PhD and a track record of community-based partnerships for research. Primary responsibilities include teaching in the graduate and professional pharmacy programs, mentoring graduate students, and expanding an independently funded research program.

Candidates at the assistant professor level are expected to demonstrate strong potential for establishing a vigorous, independent and externally funded research program. Candidates at the associate professor level are expected to have clear evidence of research expertise with established external funding. Preference will be given to candidates with prior federal funding. The successful candidate will be expected to compete for independent and collaborative funding from public and private sources in support of their summer salary and research program. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty in the newly established Dell Medical School at UT. Other opportunities for collaborations on UT’s campus include the Schools of Nursing, Social Work and Public Health and the College of Communications. Additionally, the College has affiliations with health systems, public and private payers, as well safety net organizations.

The College of Pharmacy is consistently ranked as one of the top five colleges of pharmacy in the country and the Health Outcomes and Pharmacy Practice division has 21 faculty members, including 6 tenured and tenure track research faculty and approximately 30 Master's and Ph.D. graduate students and health outcomes fellows (http://www.utexas.edu/pharmacy/divisions/practice/). The division also houses the Center for Pharmacoeconomic Studies, where a diverse group of researchers partner with stakeholders in pharmaceutical industry, managed care, clinical research organizations, pharmacy organizations and associations and health care institutions to address medication and health-related issues.

The successful candidate will engage in productive interdisciplinary research, provide high-quality teaching in the College’s professional and graduate educational programs, and actively participate in service activities at various levels. The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive start-up package. Applications received before October 15, 2015 will receive first consideration, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
