Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclustion

The Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion is a new position that reports to the Dean of the Faculty and is focused on enhancing diversity and inclusion within the faculty and across the curriculum. This position will also work closely with the President's Office on institutional strategies to ensure the college is a diverse and welcoming community. Charged with oversight of faculty recruiting procedures within Academic Affairs, this position will work with faculty members who serve as diversity representatives on search committees, assess our hiring procedures, and play an integral role in the development and description of faculty position requests. In order to facilitate on-going and effective collaboration on campus related to campus climate and diversity, this person will also collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Students for Multicultural Affairs, with the Associate Director of Human Resources, and act as a key liaison with the Office of Admission. The person in this position will also oversee the work of the Director of Teaching and Learning Initiatives to develop and sustain diversity initiatives such as faculty training in inclusive pedagogies and the exploration of ways to broaden further the inclusion of diverse voices in the curriculum. These initiatives will help to ensure that Rhodes College supports members of the College community in relevant aspects of curricular development, teaching and learning. The position includes some teaching (normally 2 courses each academic year), but the disciplinary home is open. Candidates should hold the highest degree in their discipline.
