• Bachelor's degree in social science discipline, human resources, business, marketing, or a related area, or equivalent experience.

General Function:

This position will support workforce development efforts targeting outcomes that reflect positive employment through new jobs, new skills, new credentials, and employment advancement opportunities throughout Motlow's service area. The Career Services Specialist will work in cross-collaboration with internal and external partners to provide a variety of career services.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Fulfills the database design, research, and data-input work needed to develop Motlow's industry prospecting, outreach, and relationship-building needs. Works with leadership to develop and maintain the data acquisition, scrubbing, flagging, profiling warehousing and sharing of newly created institutional data assets.

2. Complete phone surveys with employers to inquire about satisfaction of MSCC programs and graduates. Performs data entry of survey results into database.

3. Provides basic career services, outreach, and job placement information for students, alumni, and employees. Provides resume, job search, application, and interview preparation assistance to graduating students and alumni.

4. Conducts career assessment activities. Conducts job readiness workshops. Leads other basic work-ready programs. Supports experiential learning programs at Motlow.

5. Host workshops for students in choosing careers, conducting occupational searches, career goal setting, and job market trends (both nationally and regionally), career salary information, resume preparation, interviewing techniques, and other strategies leading to employment.

6. Works with Instructional/Faculty Leadership as directed and Workforce Development staff to cultivate, organize, and promote internships, externships, co-ops, apprenticeships, and other similar experiential and work-learning opportunities as well as recruiting and placing appropriate students in such roles.

7. Represent the college in job development activities with local employers, industry recruiters, chamber-sponsored events, economic development-sponsored events.

8. Coordinate speakers for student events oriented to professional development, dressing for success, mock interviews, testimonies of successful alumni, career fairs, recruitment events, and testing for job readiness.

9. Must learn and effectively utilize CRM management tools as directed.

10. Support the College's research, data gathering, and reporting obligations regarding in-field placement of graduates of AAS programs. Support the development of new AAS programs by fulfilling research projects as assigned. As directed, actively market Motlow graduates by division, program, and individual performer.

11. Initiate and follow-up with employer inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Support Motlow's efforts to develop relationships with regional industry, students, alumni, and faculty.

12. Provide administrative duties including answering phone calls, data entry, Excel spreadsheet management, and assistance to External Affairs as directed.

13. Assist with marketing of Career Services events and workshops.

14. Assist the Executive Director in developing and maintaining job placement records and files, stay abreast of hiring trends, promote credentialing opportunities, cross-sell professional development and continued education training programs to alumni. Provide research support to share and build upon best practices, industry changes, and economic factors relevant to the success of Motlow's graduates. Participate in the development and implementation of systems, processes, and solution related to the delivery of high quality, outcomes-based services as required by Executive Director of Workforce Development and the Vice President of External Affairs and Workforce Innovation.

15. Maintain updated content on several designated College pages.

16. Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the Vice President of Marketing and Campus Activities towards the support of the division's mission.

17. Have and maintain a high-level comfort using PC and Microsoft Office software especially Excel, as well as peripherals like webcams, printers, and scanners.

18. Have and maintain a demonstrated history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.

19. Have and maintain an excellent written, verbal, group presentation, and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in organizing, writing and presenting reports and presentations.

20. Have and maintain precise attention to detail and ability to follow explicit directions, processes, and policies.

21. Demonstrated excellent communication skills along with a helpful disposition necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts.

22. Have and maintain a ability to multi-task and handle a high-pressure environment with timeline pressures.

23. Must be able to work a varied work schedule to accommodate the needs of the adult student.

24. Must have or be willing to develop and maintain knowledge of job markets as applicable to Motlow's workforce development programs.

25. Must be familiar with or willing to learn and effectively use CRM tools.

26. Must be adept with or willing to learn list development, list management skills, as well as large spreadsheet data set management skills.

27. Must have accurate and efficient typing, data input, and proofreading skills.

28. Must be proficient in basic mathematics related to adding, subtracting, multiplication, fractions, and percentages.

29. Must be able to prioritize and respond to changing needs as they arise.

30. Must be proficient in interfacing with a diverse group of clients and contribute to maintaining effective stakeholder contacts. Must be able to serve as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies and/or employers. Interface with high-level staff such as CEO'S, Presidents, and Vice Presidents.

31. Must have and continue to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to meet deadlines.

32. Must have or be willing to develop and effectively use basic desktop publishing skills in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically use of Photoshop and Indesign. Must have, or be willing to learn and effectively use basic photographic skills using a 35mm digital camera.

Obtain and/or maintain a valid Tennessee driver's license.
