Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Advising and Testing, this individual will direct and oversee all aspects of the TN Promise Forward grant project in full compliance with the TN Higher Education Commission and VSCC processes, policies, regulations, and procedures. This position will primarily work at the Gallatin campus of Volunteer State Community College (VSCC), although on occasion some travel may be required to VSCC's satellite campuses.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Grant manager and Student Services staff to ensure that grant deliverables are being implemented according to the grant document and within budget.

Cultivate/maintain partnerships with other staff and faculty, external support organizations, and potential employers for recruiting and advising students, developing/implementing retention programs, and guiding students on career paths.

Collaborate with appropriate faculty, departments, and others, both internally and externally, to ensure effective project development and timely implementation.

Provide training to faculty advisor generalists in best practices and established college procedures for proactive advising.

Coordinate advising of and outreach to students for milestone courses in each program of study on campus.

Participate in all advising activities with an assigned load.

Ensure timely progress and problem resolution through consistent communication including regular project meetings, communication with partners and staff, and working with the Grants Manager and Grants Accountant to meet funding compliance.

Work closely with the VSCC Accountant to ensure that revenues are appropriately expended, the grant budget is managed, proper documentation of purchases for invoicing is provided, etc.

Implement and monitor the collection and collation of statistical information in order to meet grant performance and reporting requirements.

Support student success initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Masters degree.

One (1) year of academic advising experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years demonstrated paid experience in grant/project management.

Experience working in the higher education environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:
Computer skills in Microsoft applications.

Strong writing and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of assessment practices and processes.

Exceptional customer relations skills.

Ability to apply knowledge and skills to real-world settings, analyze and solve complex problems, and connect choices and actions to ethical decisions.

Critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills.

Ability to multi-task and work effectively with state agencies and regulations to meet performance standards and deliverable dates.

Proven ability to read and interpret state contracts and regulations resulting in compliant grant project implementation.

Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Pay Rate: $36,650 - $44,436 annual salary depending on experience
