Manager of Adult Learners and Veterans AffairsPosition Summary:

The Manager of Adult Learners and Veterans Affairs (VA) will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing recruitment and retention initiatives relative to Adult Learners to include initiatives to reconnect students to college, military/veterans, and students using VA and/or Military benefits. Recruitment and retention initiatives will include but not be limited to developing relationships with career centers, Reconnect communities, area businesses,student advising, educational financial aid, and academic planning. The position will develop and implement processes reconnecting students to college encouraging credential completion. Additionally, the position will oversee the implementation of provisions of legislation relative to the various chapters of the Veterans Affairs (VA) GI Bill, and Federal and State Tuition Assistance programs as it relates to educational assistance benefits. The position will also oversee Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) benefits processing for students using funds through career centers and the Department of Labor.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provide assistance for adult learners to ensure understanding of college processes, educational funding, and basic degree planning. Develop and implement recruitment and retention initiatives relative to military/veterans, students using VA and/or Military benefits, and adult learner students, including initiatives to reconnect students to college. Provide assistance with transitional counseling and advising for military veteran students transitioning from military to civilian educational environments. Lead efforts to fully develop, promote and assist with Prior Learning Assessment and Academic Fresh Start. Develop and implement resource advisement for adult learners. Communicate VA, Federal and State Tuition Assistance, career center funding, state funding, and Vol State requirements to military/veteran student and adult learner populations using multiple communication venues. Work closely with internal and external constituents to ensure proper administration of VA, Federal and State Tuition Assistance benefits, along with career center agencies; keep students informed of those benefits and appropriate available resources. Ensure maintenance of records related to veterans and other eligible persons' benefits in accordance with Vol State and Veterans Administration and career center requirements. Develop and implement training programs for staff members executing Reconnect requirements, VA, Federal/State Tuition Assistance, and career center funding. Prepare budget requests and maintain expenditures within budget guidelines. Supervise department staff. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree. Minimum three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory experience. Higher education experience. Experience working with Adult Learners, Prior Learning Assessment and Academic Fresh Start processes. Knowledge relevant to veterans benefits and/or student educational funding. Experience working with military veterans and/or service in the United State Armed Forces. Experience in federal financial aid. Experience in advising and counseling students. Knowledge of Banner Student Information System.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with faculty, staff, and administration. Strong multi-tasking abilities. Ability to handle confidential information properly. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: 48,370.00 - 58,646.00 annual salary depending on experience
