Position Summary:
Assists with the operations and functions of the Department of Plant Operations, primarily to keep buildings and surrounding areas clean and well maintained. Perform heavy custodial tasks such as buffing and stripping. Utilizing the campus work order system, perform maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, changing ballasts, toilet repairs, light painting, drywall repair and installation of restroom equipment. Completes event set-ups and break-downs for events across campus.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs routine cleaning tasks, such as floor care, dusting, cleaning interior/exterior glass, trash disposal, cleaning restrooms, offices, classrooms, labs. Coordinate/complete the set-up/break-down for all events held across campus.

Operates the following equipment: Scrubber, slow speed buffer, high speed buffer, carpet cleaner, pressure washer and other electrical, gas and manually operated equipment.

Utilizes the campus work order system to perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment, install restroom dispensers, change light bulbs, change batteries and to complete various other light maintenance duties.

Performs basic maintenance and plumbing and changes HVAC filters on a preset schedule utilizing the campus work order system.

Ensures proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and supplies; follows all environmental, health, and safety rules.

Completes daily building checks and creates/completes maintenance work orders for any issues found.

Works well with other Plant Operations personnel toward the timely accomplishment of group projects and team set-ups.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
1 year verifiable general building maintenance experience.

Custodial/janitorial experience in a business or education environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:
Basic computer skills.

Ability to change light bulbs, work on toilets, work on sinks, replace light bulbs, install bathroom dispensers.

Ability to operate vacuums, slow speed buffer, high speed buffer, carpet cleaner, extractor.

Ability to utilize the campus work order system using a college supplied iPad.

Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

Ability to understand and follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) procedures.

Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 50 lbs.

Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

Ability to use computer to read e-mail, fill out timesheets and to complete required EH&S/Human Resource training.

Pay Rate: $22,270 - $25,384 annual salary depending on experience
